Additional information

Research area

Interactions between organic matter and minerals play key roles in myriad biogeochemical processes. I am particularly interested in relationships between natural organic matter and mineral surfaces from a range of perspectives using both mineralogical and organic geochemical tools. My research seeks to answer fundamental questions centered on Earth's carbon cycle and tackle the most exciting and pressing problems of our time. Climate change is upon us with increasing frequency of weather extremes and rising sea levels. At the same time, we are increasingly exploring beyond our own planet and asking ourselves how life even started.
